This charming Craftsman home had a deteriorating front porch that was taking away from the home’s curb appeal and creating a potential safety hazard. The concrete was dropping and sloping, while the Craftsman-style support beams had begun to deteriorate and needed attention to maintain proper support for the porch roof.
Once we removed the existing concrete, we discovered that it had been poured directly over compacted dirt without gravel or rebar for proper reinforcement. To create a stronger, longer-lasting foundation, we removed the old concrete, prepared the area with gravel and rebar, and rebuilt the front steps before pouring the new concrete.
We also reframed and rebuilt the deteriorating Craftsman-style beams, preserving the character of the home while providing the structural stability the porch roof needed. Beautiful brick detailing was added to complement the new concrete and enhance the home’s classic Craftsman architecture.
The finished porch completely transformed the front of the home. What was once an uneven, deteriorating entrance is now a safe, sturdy, and welcoming front porch that restores the home’s curb appeal while staying true to its original Craftsman style.
